SMALL WORLDS TOKYO will hold Miniature Contest #2 from November 2021 to January 2022.
The theme is “Micro Gardening”. We are collecting works of “plants” that you love.
You can submit a small diorama of any green landscape such as a single flower or plant, forest, wetland or beach with swaying palm trees!
There is no limit on the scale and the materials! Works from beginners and children are also welcome!
We are looking forward to your masterpieces.

“Micro Gardening”

Models of miniature “plants (flowers, trees, grass, greenery in general)”

Submission Requirements

  • ・Mini works of “plants (flowers, trees, grass, greenery in general)”
  • ・You can submit a miniature of a single item or a scenery. There is no limit on the scale.
  • ・There is no limit on the materials.
  • ・Works with electric and acoustic mechanisms cannot be used for exhibition.
    (No power supply rental service)
  • ・Maximum size of work including the stand: 20cm in length, width and height
    *This is not a contest for real plants such as bonsai.

Notes

  • ・Be sure to firmly fix all parts so that they won’t come off.
  • ・Bring your diorama after firmly fixing it to the display stand.
  • ・Stick a paper with the work’s title and the creator’s name to the work.
  • ・We recommend to write down the descriptions of the work you submit on a card about the size of a business card and bring it together with your work, so it will be easier for the visitors and judges to understand your work!
  • ・We accept only unreleased works. (But they can be published on social media or displayed at exhibitions.)
  • ・Please note that we won’t be responsible for any damage to the work.

How to submit your entry

  • ・Bring your work to the Annual Pass ticket counter on the 3rd floor of SMALL WORLDS TOKYO in the period between November 15, 2021 and January 14, 2022.
    (*) We don’t accept submissions sent by mail.
  • ・The regular price of park’s entrance ticket is ¥2,700. But participants of this contest can buy discounted tickets for ¥1,000.
  • ・After submitting the works, participants of this contest will receive 3 tickets and each ticket can be used to enter the park once for free.
    (Use these tickets when you come to take your work back. Moreover, please refrain from reselling these tickets.)
  • ・Download the application form, fill in required information and bring the form together with your work.
  • ・Download the following PDF file to read about the handling of your personal information provided in the application form.
    You can use the name you use as a modeler for the exhibition, but you need to write your real name in the application form.

Return of Works

Please come to the Annual Pass ticket counter on the 3rd floor of SMALL WORLDS TOKYO during the park opening hours between January 24, 2022 (Mon.) and February 21, 2022 (Mon.) to get your work back.
Please contact us if you can’t come during the above-mentioned period. We may dispose of your work if you neither come during the above-mentioned period nor contact us.

Exhibition of Works

Your work will be exhibited on the shelves of the “Glass Room” on the 3rd floor of SMALL WORLDS TOKYO from November 15, 2021 (starting date of submission) to around February 21, 2022.

Selection

Takahiro Sakamoto

He finished the Fine Arts Course of Nihon University College of Art. He worked for advertising companies and model manufacture companies and then, in 1993, he founded Craft Sakamoto Kikaku Co. Ltd.. Apart from taking charge of CRAFT SAKAMOTO KIKAKU CO.,LTD and Garden Railway Cafe, he also served as “gauge meister” on BS JAPAN’s TV program “tetsumo channel”.

Tatsuya Kaneko

In 1977, his diorama was published in a professional model magazine and he debuted as an expert modeler. Since then, for more than 40 years, he has been presenting his works through model magazines, model manufacturers, business commercials, TV programs and project exhibitions. He has also laid an ideal foundation for the Japanese model industry.

~Uekisyoku Morimoto~ He is a horticulturist from Nerima. In the model field which is his hobby, he calls himself Dassou Marmotte (HN) and takes part in competitions and events from time to time.

WAKO MODEL CREATIVE INC.

WAKO MODEL CREATIVE INC. is an industrial model (architecture models, museum models, replicas, etc.) production company founded 35 years ago. Its “kamizukuri (paper diorama accessories)” is a product produced by applying many years of expertise into the general hobby field. Leaf veins are finely engraved and cut on the recycled paper by laser, so you can create a realistic plant just by coloring and assembling it.

He graduated from the architecture department of Oita Technical High School and worked in a model production company in Osaka.
At the age of 29, he returned to his hometown and founded WAKO MODEL CREATIVE INC..
He has dedicated all his life since the age of 18 to the work related to models!! (his pride)

MORIN CO.LTD

MORIN CO.LTD is a specialized manufacturer of materials related to miniatures and dioramas.
